Godot AI: make Godot games with AI
Does Godot have AI? Not built in, but Shiny Gen runs the Godot engine in your browser and in its iPhone, iPad, and Android apps with an AI agent that writes real GDScript, runs the game, and fixes the errors. Describe a game and play it with nothing to install, or connect Claude or ChatGPT to Shiny Gen's hosted MCP server and let it build in your live project.

What you can make
Games on the Godot engine in Shiny Gen's free catalogue. Play one, read its GDScript, or remix it into your own copy:
- Shiny Rapids: a 3D rafting game on the Godot engine: hold the left or right side of the screen to paddle down a river that never ends.
- Shiny Skyline: a Godot tower-stacking game: build a tower one floor at a time with a single tap.
- Putt: nine holes of mini golf with rails, a bunker, a ramp, and a bridge.
- Shiny Shepherd: drag anywhere and your dog runs to your finger; herd the flock into the pen before night falls.
Three ways to use AI with Godot
- A plugin in the desktop editor that adds a chat panel or code generation.
- A general coding assistant writing scripts in a Godot project on your computer. Installing the engine, finding art and sound, and running the game to test it stay with you.
- A tool built on Godot with AI at its center. Shiny Gen is this kind: the engine, the AI agent, the art and sound tools, and the game are in one browser tab or app.
Make a Godot game in the browser
- Open shinygen.ai/play (or the app) and sign up for a free account.
- Press +, choose New, then Godot Engine.
- In the Agent tab, describe the game: what the player does, the controls, the goal, the look.
- The agent writes GDScript, runs the game, takes screenshots, presses the controls, reads errors with line numbers, and fixes them. It can make images, 3D models, animations, sound effects, and music too.
- Switch from Chat to Code to read and edit the GDScript yourself, which costs nothing.
- Share a link to play. Exporting for the web as a zip needs any one purchase, from $2.99.

Use Claude or ChatGPT with Godot through MCP
Shiny Gen runs a hosted Model Context Protocol server at mcp.shinygen.ai. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client and it can create and edit assets, write GDScript, run the game, take screenshots, and press the controls in your live project, with no engine to install.
- In your game's editor, open the Agent tab, tap the model button, choose Connect external model with MCP, and press Host External Agent.
- Add the server to your assistant, for example
claude mcp add --transport http shinygen https://mcp.shinygen.ai/mcp, or add it as a custom connector, and approve the OAuth prompt.
Code an outside assistant writes costs no gems; generating assets does. If your AI can run its own browser, an agent session link lets it work with nothing open on your side. Details: Connect Claude or ChatGPT and the MCP guide.
How it differs from desktop Godot
- It runs on our sandboxed fork. The GDScript is real and you can read and copy it, but the stock Godot editor cannot open a Shiny Gen project, and there is no project download yet.
- No native builds yet. Games play in Shiny Gen, by link, or as a web export (needs any one purchase, from $2.99), not as Windows, macOS, Steam, or app-store builds.
- Multiplayer stays inside Shiny Gen. A game exported for the web plays solo.
In return: nothing to install, on any device, with art, 3D, animation, and sound in the same project and an agent that plays its own game.
Use desktop Godot instead if you need a native build today, need the project in the stock editor with its addons or C#, or work on a large project with a team and version control.
Phones
The iPhone, iPad, and Android apps run the same Godot editor and agent, and mobile browsers work too. See making a game with AI on your phone.
What it costs
Free to make, play, and share. AI generation uses gems. Any one purchase, from a $2.99 starter pack, also unlocks exporting your games as files.
FAQ
Does Godot have AI built in?
No. The Godot editor does not ship with an AI assistant. You can add one with an editor plugin, use a general coding assistant on a desktop project, or use a tool built on Godot such as Shiny Gen, which runs the engine and an AI agent together in the browser.
Is it really Godot and GDScript?
Yes. Shiny Gen runs a fork of the Godot engine compiled for the web with a WebGPU renderer, and games are written in GDScript. The project runs on our sandboxed fork, so the stock Godot editor cannot open it.
Can I open my Shiny Gen game in the Godot editor?
Not as a project. You can read and copy the GDScript from the Code view, but there is no project download yet, and the code is written for Shiny Gen's engine fork.
Can I use Claude or ChatGPT to make Godot games here?
Yes. Connect it to the hosted MCP server at mcp.shinygen.ai, press Host External Agent in the app, and it builds in your live project. The code it writes costs no gems; generating assets uses gems.
Can I make a Godot game on my phone?
Yes. The Shiny Gen app on iPhone, iPad, and Android has the same editor and agent, and mobile browsers work too.
